Royals found a gem in Brentz

In 2019, the Royals signed Jake Brentz to a minor league deal. This signing seemed like it would be like any other minor in signing, but not for Brentz.

Brentz showed up to spring training with the hopes of making the opening day roster, but I don’t think many Royals fans expected him to make the team. Now early in the 2021 season, Brentz is turning heads. Although he has only pitched in a few games for Kansas City, he has the arm I believe we could see out on the mound at Kauffman Stadium multiple times throughout the season and maybe years to come.

With that being said, if Brentz continues to pitch the way he has, I believe the Royals will come to rely on him during clutch moments like they have with Wade Davis and Greg Holland over the years, especially with him being a left hander that can touch 100 miles per hour when needed. I am not saying Brentz will be a closer anytime soon,  but I think the Royals will use him many times as the 2021 season goes on.
