Back when I wrote about Ian Kennedy’s contract extension, I said that Brady Singer isn’t ready for the workload a major league pitcher goes through. I still believe he isn’t ready for a heavy workload. This doesn’t mean we couldn’t see Singer in the majors in 2020. Now that rosters have been expanded to 29 players, we could see him sooner rather than later, along with some other prospects.
Singer had a great spring despite it being cut short due to COVID-19. In his four spring training starts for the Royals, he posted a 4.76 ERA. Now I know that is a small sample size, but those aren’t bad stats for a 23-year old who pitched in Double-A last season. When the season starts, assuming it does, I could see Singer making 10 starts for the Naturals and 15 starts for the Storm Chasers. If Singer were to be called up by the Royals, they would ease him into major league
games. My guess is if the Royals give him the call to the majors, he will only pitch 15 to 20 innings with KC in 2020. After his short stint with the Royals, I could see him finishing the season with the Omaha Storm Chasers. Regardless of what happens, Singer’s future with the Royals looks bright.
