Stretch Blewett out

The Royals are always looking for reliable bullpen arms that can eat up some innings throughout the season. I believe Scott Blewett could be one of those guys. In 2019, Blewett started five games for Northwest Arkansas and 16 for the Omaha Storm Chasers. This means the Royals can use him in many situations throughout the season, either as a starter or a long reliever. I believe teams can never have too many long relievers that can go five innings or more in a game from time to time in a long baseball season. I am not saying make Blewett a every fifth day starter; but, I would like to see the Royals stretch him out in spring training, and in Omaha during the regular season in case of injuries to the Royals rotation throughout the season, or if one of the younger pitchers struggles and has to be sent down to the minors to develop. I am mainly talking about Kris Bubic and Brady Singer. I do realize that the Royals have many pitchers who could start a game that are in their bullpen like Jesse Hahn, Ian Kennedy, Matt Harvey, Ronald Bolanos, and Jakob Junis. The Royals will possibly bring in free agent relievers causing pitchers like Scott Blewett, Jake Newberry, Tyler Zuber and others to fight for a spot in the Royals bullpen. I believe it will be a very big spring training for many of the young pitchers on the Royals big league roster to see if they are part of their long-term plans or not. I do realize that Blewett won’t be part of the Royals rotation anytime soon, but I think it would be interesting to see what he could do as a starter.
