Do you remember the 1985 World Series? Most of you probably do. The Royals lost game one 3-1 to the Cardinals. Obviously, everyone knows who won the World Series between Kansas City and St. Louis. Since then, the Royals and the Cardinals have been inter-league rivals. Because the Royals beat their most well known I-70 rivalry in 1985, I would like to see the Royals and Rockies face each other in the World Series some day. I bet I am not the only one who would love to see this. However, the Royals and the Rockies are at a completely different skill level at this point. The Rockies have their core built from the ground up in Nolan Arenado, Charlie Blackmon, and Trevor Story, just to name a few. The Rockies are obviously not in the middle of a rebuild like the Royals, but I believe the Royals are about two or three years from having a competitive team again. The Rockies will still have most of their core players under contract at that time. I think it would be cool to see the Royals and the Rockies face each other in the World Series. If you know the rivalry between the Chiefs and the Broncos in the NFL, then you know that the rivalry between the Royals and the Rockies would grow in the MLB if they played each other in the World Series. This would become the second I-70 World Series the Royals have played in since 1985. This would obviously be the first I-70 World Series for the Rockies but not their first World Series. In 2007, the Rockies fell to the Red Sox in four games. I believe the Royals could see the post season sooner rather than later with a young group of great pitchers coming up to the big leagues in the near future. These young arms will join Danny Duffy, Brady Singer, Kris Bubic and Brad Keller in the rotation or in the bullpen. I think it would be cool to see World Series games played at Kauffman Stadium and Coors Field in the near future, even though I think it is highly unlikely that this World Series will ever happen.
